Objective of the game

In Gods Unchained, you enter the battlefield represented as the god of your choice to fight another of your fellow divine beings. Your cards are the creatures and spells that you use in the fight for final victory. You win by reducing the opponent’s god’s health to 0 while making sure the same doesn’t happen to you in the process.

What are the types of cards?

Relics they are wielded by your god and give you the ability to send him directly to the battlefield, taking and dealing damage in the process.

The creatures they are combatant cards that are thrown right into the fray. They have a physical representation on the battlefield with a certain amount of Strength and Health, and generally also some abilities and keywords that accompany them (the we will explore in detail in a future article ).

Note: most good decks feature both creatures and spells in copious amounts: the first will allow you to resist and deal repetitive damage and the second will allow you to immediately interact with whatever your opponent is cooking.

What are the powers of God?

The powers of God are unique abilities that are attached to each god and can be used once each turn . Using your divine power doesn’t require a card, but they always have to be considered, so you’re less likely to run out of money and have to go through a turn entirely.

Each god has 4 powers to choose from with different effects and mana costs, with various advantages and disadvantages based on your own deck and your opponent’s deck.

How does Mana work?

It doesn’t matter if you’re playing a spell or a creature, there is a price to pay, literally. Each card has a cost of manna associate, which is the main resource in Gods Unchained. You can find it in the upper left corner of the card.

You start with a Mana to spend on your first turn and gain more progressively as time passes: your total mana count increases by one each turn until turn five , at which point the accumulation of Mana slows down.

Cards that cost more mana tend to be more powerful , so you can’t just roll them at the start of a game – you can only play them when you have enough mana to cover their cost.

Important: There are 3 clickable gemstones known as Mana Pips , next to the player’s mana UI to activate the bonus mana. When highlighted, a player can click Mana Pip to activate the Cheat Bag. The Bag of Tricks unlock +1 mana for that turn, which can change all the strategy and card options available.

Note: you can’t deposit Mana – Anything you don’t spend on a given turn will be lost forever, and its efficient use is one of the most important aspects of the game. So what do you do if you don’t have a creature or spell on a turn that you want, or can you , play? Well, this is where divine powers come in.

How does Combat work?

The attacker has the initiative in Gods Unchained, which means you can choose where your different creatures’ attacks go (or the relic equipped by your god). While there are some limitations to this, for example, you must first target the creatures with the Frontline keyword , this gives you a lot of flexibility.

You can only have a maximum of six creatures on the board , and these deal damage equal to their Strength on your selected target. This value is then subtracted from your total health. If a creature reaches 0 health, it dies and disappears from the battlefield, sent to the Void for the rest of the game.

What is the Void?

The Empty It is home to dead creatures and spells already cast, every card that has been played so far in the game and has somehow been removed from the action. Think of it as a graveyard of cards .

Beware: certain gods and deck archetypes have the ability to interact with the Void and even bring cards back from the dead.

How does a match develop?

First, you select your divine power . You must base your choice on both your deck and your opponent’s deck. This is a permanent option for the rest of the game, so make sure it’s good for the situation!

Then the mulligan . Here, you draw your first three (or four, if you go second) cards from your hand and then you have to decide whether you want to keep them or “throw them back” into your deck and draw a different one at random to replace it. .

It is common practice to “mulligan” cards that have a high mana cost (5 and more) at the beginning of the game, as they cannot be used in the early rounds.

Using your available mana, you can summon your creatures to the battlefield or cast spells on desired targets by doing click and drag them (Make sure you have enough mana! Remember, cards are not cheap!)
