Google Finance Adds ‘crypto’ Tab Showing Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash

Google Finance has added crypto prices to the domain finance.google.com. The section, titled “Crypto,” now appears in the “Compare Markets” category alongside the stock and conventional currency markets. This section provides key price information for various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

The cryptocurrency market has attracted mainstream attention over the past year, as institutional and corporate investors have started investing in the asset class. Their involvement helped launch the cryptocurrency market cap past $1 trillion in January. The crypto market cap would eventually peak at $1.7 trillion in February before suffering a pullback. At their current value, the digital asset class is worth more than $1.4 trillion.

Both retail adoption and institutional interest have grown rapidly over the past three months. And with big companies like Tesla and Mastercard actively embracing cryptocurrencies, the need for clearer regulation is growing, according to United States Securities and Exchange Commissioner Hester Peirce.

Calls for clearer guidance on digital assets are likely to grow louder as the bull market heats up. Meanwhile, Peirce said, the new Biden administration could provide a new perspective on regulatory aspects.
